Yvon and I might just be the only Canadian citizens that have visited New Zealand - for a weekend! In 2001, we did a "trip around the world", leaved Toronto heading east toward London, and returning by moving relentlessly in the same direction. Auckland fit nicely in between Shanghai and Sydney, and was our only stop in New Zealand. I recall the city fondly. It's physical setting is one of the world's most beautiful, but what amazed me the most were the little extinct volcanoes that dot the city, now used as parks. The frequently had sheep or cows grazing on the grass, and were very beautiful, strange, and an intense little treat in the middle of the city. |
