Map of South-East Australia

Yvon and I drove from Sydney to Melbourne during our visit to Australia in 2001, spending three nights along the way. The first night was in a lovely guest house in the Blue Mountains, which was more luxurious that we were used to. I was quite sick that night. The second night we spent in the capital city, Canberra. The third night was in some forgettable town in Victoria, on the way to Melbourne.

  • Canberra (10 photos) - We did not stay a long time in Canberra, we toured the city quickly and left. We visited the then-recently-completed Parliament House, went up the Telstra Tower, and checked out the Australian War Memorial. I do recall that went out to a bar at night, and Yvon got skunky beer, and that I was horrified by the planned nature of this instant capital city.

  • The Blue Mountains, and other countryside along the way (25 photos) - These photos mostly show the blue mountains, but also capture a few other shots from the countryside between Sydney and Melbourne. They were taken both before and after our stay in Canberra, though only the last five were taken after Canberra.
