Malmo Map

I had not expected to like Malmö much. This city, at the southern end of Sweden, and just across from Copenhagen, has a bit of a rough reputation. It probably suffers from too-close proximity to Copenhagen, and the bridge and tunnel connecting the two countries has apparently been a boon for Copenhagen and not so much for Malmö. But I was switching trains here, and it felt like it made sense to give the city a day to charm. I was blessed with lovely weather and in fact found that Malmöites had made themselves a city that is quite pretty, compact, and had lots of understated but pleasant architecture.

  • All Malmo (151 photos) - My stay in Malmö was brief, and essentially comprises a large counter-clockwise walk through the city, so everything in one large gallery.  This starts around the Central Station and my hotel, tracks west to the Ribersborg Beach, then south first to the Slottsparken and area, and further south to the Pildammsparken. Back into the centre of the city via Triangeln, and to the heart of town at the two squares Lille Torg and the Stortoget. It heads east a bit, then back to where I started.
