These photos are from two trips to Seattle, one in 2005 and again in 2007. Seattle is one of my favourite American cities. I've always thought it combined some of the picturesque qualities of Vancouver with a sloppier, urban vibe of Toronto. I was delighted to make a stopover there with my friend Lois, after a lovely Friday spent with her friend Rowan doing a bit of hiking in some of the moutains elsewhere in the state. These photos are of both Seattle and elsewhere in Washington, from that 2007 trip.
I've also included an earlier trip. In 2005, I travelled to Seattle and Tacoma as a side trip while in Vancouver, driving down with my friend Susan. I was interested to see a number of buildings there, particularly the Glass Museum in Tacoma, and the new Gehry Experience Music Project in Seattle. In the end, it was Seattle Public Library that blew my mind, one of the best new buildings I've seen anywhere.

Seattle with Lois in 2007 (43 photos) - Lois and dropped in on Seattle on our way down to Portland, mostly viewing the very-new Seattle Sculpture Garden, but also dropping into the Seattle Public Library, a building that I can't help myself from lovin'.

Other Washington State (48 photos) - Lois and I stayed overnight with her friend Rowan in Washington State, just across from the Canadian border. These photos shows Rowan's lovely house tucked into the Pacific Northwest trees, a mountaintop hike we took that saw my first flurries of the winter of 2007, and a few photos of Bellingham and environs.
