Tel Aviv Map
I met up with Loryl and Susan in Tel
Aviv, where I had spent a day or two wandering on my own at the beginning of
my Israel trip in 2007. A city of cafes
and beaches, I had expected a place that was more upscale and urban than the
laid back, slightly rundown city I found myself in. But the weather was
lovely, the flowers were blooming, and streets were full of people, and Tel
Aviv formed a lovely passageway to our trip through Israel.

City
Views (132 photos) -
General views of the city, including neighbourhoods, parks, cafes, the
airport, shopping and generally hanging with Loryl and Susan.
-
Bauhaus
(13 photos) -
Tel Aviv is well known for its Bauhaus architecture, a pared down and
plain style popular between the wars. I found it quite charming that not
all the buildings were fixed up, in fact, many were not such great shape,
and it spoke to me of a city that is at ease with itself.
-
Highrises (37 photos) -
Views of Tel Aviv's modern skyscrapers, including the fabulous Asrieli
Center.
-
Waterfront (40 photos) -
How Tel Aviv meets the Mediterranean, with walkways and beaches, parks,
and some very ugly buildings. Also shows Loryl, Susan and I hookahing it
up (made me feel sick the rest of the day).
-
Old
Jaffa (39 photos) -
Jaffa is the old Arabic city that existed long before Tel Aviv, but which
now has been largely absorbed into the modern city.
