    Map of Thunder
    Bay

    Thunder Bay, in northwestern Ontario,
has historically been a major transit hub for grain and wood products, where
goods from the west are transferred onto ships for their voyage through the
Great Lakes and beyond. It is not a prosperous city and keeps bleeding
population, and because of the amalgamation of the former cities of Fort
William and Port Arthur, it has two anemic downtowns instead of a single
one. Nonetheless, its industrial waterfront is a place of immense scale and
    power.

Thunder Bay in 2010 for work (125 photos)
      - When I went to Thunder Bay in 2010 for work, I stayed an extra day to
explore the city. It was sunny and warm, despite being February, and I had
a great time in the downtowns of Port Arthur and Fort William, along the
waterfront, at Lakehead University, and in Chippewa Park. Also includes a
few aerial shots and some photos of my Porter flight.

Thunder Bay in 2002 for an archival workshop (21 photos)
      - Photos from my first trip to Thunder Bay in 2002, when I went with Loren
Fantin and gave a workshop on archival description. These photos show
myself and Loren around the town, including a side trip up Mount McKay,
just south of the river across the Kaministiquia River.
