    Toronto Photos (137 photos)
    - A selection of photos to bring my Toronto gallery up to date, arranged
chronologically. These include: single photos of baking bread, a dinner
party, drive in the country, two photos of a giant colon, then my sister's
visit to Toronto, a work visit to Allan Gardens Palm House, Lois's visit to
Toronto, Andrew's visit to Toronto, and Empty Bowls.

      Photos
from Yvon and Bob's Wedding (224 photos)
    - Way too many photos of our wedding, including the visits of Yvon's family
and Bob's family to Toronto, the ceremony, our Friday night dinner, the
Saturday party, and other weekend events. Many thanks
to Réjean for acting as our unofficial photographer and taking so many of
these photos, and to Felix and Elmina for giving me downloads from their own
    cameras.

      Art
    Gallery of Ontario (57 photos)
    - After being closed for some time, the Art Gallery of Ontario opened
again in 2008, having a members preview that I went to with friends Craig and Neil.
We lined up to be among the first to enter, and spent four hours looking at
new artworks, at old favourites, and finding our way around the magnificent
spaces of Frank Gehry's major addition to the gallery. The interior of the
building is a revelation, even without all the features yet ready for prime
time (none of the three wacky staircases were yet open to the public). As
photographs in the gallery are strictly forbidden, some of the photos are a
    bit blurry (no flash).

      Doors
Open, Contact, Luminato and Marcy (233 photos)
    - A huge gallery of early summertime delights:

Doors Open is Toronto's annual architectural festival, and this year I
visited the Gladstone Hotel, St. Annes Anglican Church, the BAPS Shri
Swaminarayan Mandir, the Don Valley Brick Works, and the Distillery
District, some of this with my friends Rick and Dave. Afterwards we hit the
    Eagle for beer.

Contact is a photography festival, which overlaps pleasingly with Doors
Open, and I have a bunch of photos of that, from art in public places and in
    galleries.

My pal Marcy visited and we strolled through the city, including Exhibition
Place, Fort York, Queen Street and Liberty Village, imbibing heavily along
the way, before going to a Leonard Cohen concert that was wonderful. On
Sunday we went and saw a fantastic exhibit at the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic
Art. We also visited some Luminato venues and saw the remains of the Contact
    festival.

Right after these, Luminato, an arts
festival, got under way and I visited several venues for that, and enjoyed a
    beer in Dundas Square.

      Toronto FC
      Game (23 photos) - Lily
and I got tickets to a Toronto FC Soccer game, mostly because the weather
was so crappy, but we went anyways and had a good time. We even watched
the game a little, but got there too late (in spite of our colleague and
friend Steve's warning) to see the game's only goal.

      Yvette in
      Toronto (19 photos) -
Thanks to the difficulties of flying standby, Yvon had to bring his mom to
Toronto rather than to Montreal as planned, on the day we were to leave
for Paris. They also had to leave really early. However, it did give time
for Yvette to see a bit of the city, and to experience her first subway
ride. These photos show her at all the Toronto standbys, including the CN
Tower, Air Canada Centre, City Hall, in churches, on the subway, and in
      planes.

      Leslie
      Spit (20 photos) -
I drove my bike out the spit one April morning, and took photos of the
cormorants and other birds there, as well as various other oddities. The
spit is both grotesque and beautiful at the same time, and how lucky we
      are to have it.

      Royal
      Ontario Museum (37 photos)
      - Photos of the inside, outside, up and down of the new addition to the
Royal Ontario Museum, from when it opened in 2007. Also incudes photos of
      a dinner in C5, the
restaurant and bar atop the gallery (Photos 29-37).

      Toronto
      Waterfront (32 photos) -
Photos of HtO park when it was new, a trip out the Leslie Spit, at the
Beach in the east end, and taking the ferry to the islands.

      Ireland
Park (18 photos) - Day and night photos of a new waterfront park,
commemorating the arrival of many Irish in Toronto during the mid 19th
century. Many died after their arrival while in quarantine, and are buried
near where the park is located. The artist responsible for the statues has
another set in Ireland, who in that case are leaving the land. Also shown
is the beautiful glass brick beacon.

      Other
Random Pics (32 photos) - Some of
these are from Christmastime, and show decorations and people enjoying
Nathan Phillips Square. Others are just sights or artwork around the city.

      Waterloo +
      Kitchener + Cambridge (52 photos)
      - Yvon and I drove to Waterloo primarily to see the Canadian Clay and
Glass Gallery (which won a Governor Generals Medal for Architecture for
Patkau Architects in 1997) and the Perimeter Centre (which won a GG Medal
in 2006 for Saucier + Perrotte).
These two buildings, and the former Seagrams Site, are all nestled
together in the city and are easy to visit. We also dropped by Kitchener
City Hall (which I actually quite like, except for the tower) and the new
Architecture Building in central Galt, which is now known as Cambridge.
Also shown are some great vases I bought in Waterloo.

visual arts displays that formed part of the Luminato festival.
