Washington is another one of those places that I have been to a few times, but where my photos are underwhelming. Mostly, this is because they are mostly pre-digital photos, which means not nearly enough images to start with, and those that I have scanned tend to be blurry, mostly. And by the time I went to Washington with a digital camera, I had seen the city multiple times and didn't take any of the obvious photos that one might take as a new visitor to town.

Washington with Bob in 1997 (17 photos) - My first trip to Washington occurred in 1997, when I went down for a few days with Bob Johnston. We visited sites, museums and hung out in the city's bars, and had a jolly time. These photos show us with monuments, in city views, and have a few shots of the Canadian Embassy, which was relatively new at the time.

Washington with Yvon in 2001 (14 photos) - In 2001, Yvon and I went to Washington for an event, and this small scattering of photos shows a bit of the sightseeing that we worked in. The photos are around Dupont Circle, at the Smithsonian, and at Arlington Cemetery.

Washington with Rick in 2001 (4 photos) - Just a few photos resulted from this quick trip, during which I was attending a Society of American Archivists conference. Rick came with me, and did sightseeing on his own while I was occupied. We had a disastrous trip to the Arboretum that we still laugh about.

Washington with Yvon in 2002 (6 photos) - An even smaller sampling of photos from another trip with Yvon, this time with several photos of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

Washington with CUSTARD in 2002 (15 photos) - In April 2002, I was in Washington for the first of a few meetings that we had for the Canadian-US Task Force on Archival Description. Yvon came down with me. He took a number of photos on the Mall, and the rest are mostly housing in the Dupont Circle area.

Washington with Yvon in 2005 (55 photos) - In January 2005, Yvon and I took a trip to Washington. These are mostly in the Botanic Gardens, and a lot of them are flowers, so they are not very "Washingtonlike" at all. But here they are, anyways.
